Guardians
Guardians are the backbone of TowerWatch — vetted fire, EMS, dispatch, weather, emergency-management, SAR, forestry, and FireSmart professionals who help keep the community informed, accurate, and safe.
Current Guardians
Roster published as Guardians are seeded. Phase 1 launch: 15–30 founding members.
What Guardians do
- Verify posts and apply the appropriate labels.
- Moderate categories within their area of expertise.
- Weigh in on incident threads to add context.
- Coordinate during Operations Mode (v2) when a major incident is active.
- Uphold the community guidelines.
Who qualifies
- Active or recently retired firefighters (municipal, structure, wildland).
- Paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
- 911 or emergency-service dispatchers.
- Meteorologists and SkyWarn / CanWarn-trained spotters.
- Emergency-management professionals (provincial, regional, municipal, First Nations).
- Search and rescue (SAR) volunteers and professionals.
- Forestry staff (BC Wildfire Service, Alberta Wildfire, and equivalents).
- FireSmart-aligned trainers.
How to apply
Email team@wildfire-ready.ca with: your name, your role, your employer or affiliation, a way to verify your credentials (we keep this private), and one paragraph on why you'd like to help. We review applications in small batches.
What you'll be asked to commit to
Volunteer time, ~1 hour/week typical, more during active incidents in your region. Operations Mode (v2) may add a short on-call rota during major events.
